Social Media Marketing for Laundromats: Tips & Tricks to Attract Customers

25th April 2025

If you have a smartphone, you’ve probably downloaded an app or two for social media. Platforms like Facebook, Instagram and TikTok are becoming increasingly popular with 73% of people in the US being connected to social networks in 2025. And it’s this figure alone that makes social media such a huge opportunity for business owners to attract new customers, especially those in the laundromat industry. It’s a way to boost more awareness about your brand, promote your services and connect with other professionals within the laundry community. Posting organically to your social accounts is also completely free, making this the ultimate marketing tactic to get your name out there to a wider audience.

So, if you are considering setting up an online social presence for your laundry business, you’re in the right place! In this blog, we’ll walk you through how to use social media, covering the different platforms available to you, what to post and when.

Choosing The Right Social Media Platforms

Let’s start with the different networks. When you are first getting started on social media, it can be tempting to create an account on every platform - but you don’t need to be everywhere. As a laundry business, it’s better to focus on just one or two channels that you know you can manage and will ultimately help you reach new customers. One platform great for laundromats is Instagram and it’s the third most popular channel falling just behind YouTube and Facebook. Customers like to see what a business looks like before trying it out themselves and with this channel, you can post pictures or quick reels of your store and services. If you are looking to promote seasonal offers and discounts, you can share this via an instagram story for all of your followers to see. It’s a great visual platform with lots of different ways to keep people engaged.

Facebook works well in a slightly different way to Instagram. It’s a space where you can stay connected with customers or other business owners. You can write and share updates about your business such as holiday closing times or events, post promotions and even use the messenger feature to chat to customers if needed. It’s less visual to Instagram but you can still keep people updated with photos and videos if you choose. You can also add details about your business to your Facebook account to help people find your store such as the address, opening times and contact information. Many owners who don’t yet have a website will often use Facebook as their main online space.

If you are looking for a platform where you can be more creative with your posts, TikTok is the answer. This is a channel where you can quickly post fun and engaging videos about you and your business. With over 167 million users in the US, there’s a huge opportunity to gain a good following, attracting new people to learn about your store. An example of what to post could be to record videos of your staff serving customers, taking laundry bags out to delivery vans or behind-the-scenes clips of how you run your business from morning to night. A lot of people like to see behind-the-scenes as it makes the content more relatable and also shows the hard work that you put into your business on a daily basis. To help you decide which platform is best, consider the type of content that you’d like to share and the demographic of customers that you’d like to reach and go from there. TikTok may be best for young adults, whereas Facebook and Instagram will have users in all age ranges.

When to Post and Tracking What Works

To stay relevant on your social channels you need to maintain a consistent posting routine. Start by setting a goal to post at least twice a week to help you stay visible, especially when you want to build a following and draw more people to your business. If most of your customer base is made up of people working a 9-5 or busy parents with a packed schedule, it may be best to post in the afternoon and on weekends when they are more active on their socials. Young adults and students are checking their socials more frequently during the day meaning you can be a bit more flexible on when you choose to post.

After you’ve been sharing content for a few weeks, you can check analytics within each platform to see which posts have had the most engagement in terms of views and likes. From there, you can track which type of post is trending the most amongst your followers and continue to share similar content. For instance, maybe videos are performing better than still images or behind the scenes posts are more interesting to people compared to promotions. Once you start posting what people want to see, your following will gradually increase, leading to potential new people interested in visiting your store!

Final Thoughts: Social Media is A Powerful Tool

Anyone can own social media whether you’re just doing it for yourself, a big brand, an influencer or a laundromat! It’s the ultimate way to build more awareness around your business, spread the word of your services and grow a larger customer base. Making sure you pick the right platforms with a consistent posting schedule and content plan in mind is essential. Start posting often and you’ll be on track for more likes, shares and store visitors. If you are ready to give social media a go but are not sure where to start, why not research what other businesses nearby are posting and see what content is working for them? Learning from other professionals in the industry can be super beneficial.
